  • Comments Off on Sea Freight vs Air Freight from China to Pakistan: How to Choose?
Freight Forwarding

Every importer bringing goods from China to Pakistan faces the same choice: ship by air or by sea. The right answer depends on your cargo, your deadline and your cash flow. Here is a clear comparison.

Speed

Air freight is the fastest option — goods typically reach Lahore or Karachi within 3–7 days, sometimes 1–2 days for express. Sea freight takes far longer, usually 15–25 days port to port, before customs clearance and inland delivery. If you are restocking a fast-selling product or shipping perishables, air often pays for itself.

Cost

Sea freight wins decisively on cost for anything bulky or heavy. Because you pay per container or per cubic metre, the per-kg cost drops dramatically as volume rises. Air freight is priced by weight (actual or volumetric) and is far more expensive per kg — which is why it suits high-value, low-weight goods where speed matters more than shipping cost.

The decision, simplified

Choose air freight when:

  • Goods are urgent, perishable or seasonal
  • Cargo is high-value and low-weight (electronics, jewellery, samples)
  • The cost of being out of stock exceeds the higher freight cost

Choose sea freight when:

  • Cargo is bulky, heavy or large-volume
  • You have time and want the lowest shipping cost
  • You are moving furniture, machinery, raw materials or full container loads
A middle path

Many importers use both — air for their fast-moving core products and sea for bulk restocks. Some also test a new product with a small air shipment, then switch to sea freight once demand is proven. This balances speed against margin.

Do not forget the landed cost

Whichever mode you pick, your true cost includes customs duty, taxes, clearance and inland delivery — not just the freight. Budget for all of it before you commit.

Lasani Logistics handles both Air Freight and sea Freight Forwarding from China, with Custom Clearance included. Get a quote and we will recommend the most cost-effective mode for your shipment.
